What is firmware?
Firmware is a type of software that controls the hardware of your IZON camera.
Why does firmware need to be updated?
Updated firmware allows new functions and fixes to be applied to your IZON camera.
To update your IZON camera firmware:
When you add a camera to your account, the system automatically checks for a newer firmware version and initiates an update, if needed.
If a camera has been on your account and a new firmware is released, we'll send you a notification to inform you.
To check your IZON's firmware:
- Select the camera cell from the account screen.
- Tap the "Firmware" cell. The app will check your IZON's firmware.
- If an update is available, you'll be given the option to initiate or postpone the upgrade.
- Prior to initiating a firmware update, it can be useful to verify that the camera has an adequate WiFi signal. A poor WiFi connection may cause the upgrade to fail.
During the firmware upgrade:
Upgrades take about 15 minutes, during which time you won't have access to the camera. Please leave the camera powered until the upgrade completes. Once completed, the app should automatically reconnect to the camera. If the app does not automatically reconnect and the LED remains solid green after the upgrade timer completes, please use the Refresh Connections function located at the bottom of the account screen. If you're still unable to reconnect to the camera and it's been more than 30 minutes since the upgrade started, power cycle your camera, wait for the LED to become solid Green and refresh connections again.
